Marv Albert is an award-winning American sportscaster ( born Marvin Philip Aufrichtig ). He is honored for his work as a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame, he is commonly referred to as “the voice of basketball”. From 1967 to 2004, he was also known as “the voice of the New York Knicks”.

He began his career as a ball boy for the York Knicks at Madison Square Garden. He was then an assistant for Marty Glickman. He did his first calling for the Knicks on January 27, 1963, over WCBS Radio when Glickman was on a visit to Europe. Since this breakthrough, he has been the voice of the Knicks for 35 years starting from 1967 on radio and television. He lost his job in 2004 when he openly criticized the Knicks’ poor performance on air. He had also anchored MSG’s former nightly sports news report. He also appeared on Letterman’s Late Show hosted by David Letterman, his segment was called the Albert Achievement Awards.
