Having attended Clovis West High School, Heidi Watney engaged in cheerleading, diving, and hurdles. Subsequently, she graduated from the University of San Diego with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.

Heidi Watney grew up in Fresno, California, within a middle-class Native American family. Her parents, Mike Watney and Paula Watney, played a significant role in her upbringing. Among her siblings are two sisters, Kelly, and two brothers, Josh. Tragically, one of her brothers, Dusty, passed away in April 2018, succumbing to Prader-Willi syndrome.

Heidi Watney is wedded to Mike Wickham, who serves as the American director of baseball operations at the Miami Marlins. They solemnized their marriage in Edgewater, New Jersey, in 2014. The couple is blessed with a son named Jaxson Wickham, born in April 2018.

Heidi Watney embarked on her sports reporting career in September 2003 at KMPH-TV (FOX 26) in Fresno. Initially, she fulfilled the role of a morning traffic reporter before transitioning to become the weekend sports anchor and weekday sports reporter in 2005. This journey continued at KMPH FOX 26 until 2008.

In 2008, Heidi made a significant move to Massachusetts and joined the New England Sports Network (NESN). Here, she covered Boston Red Sox games as a gameday reporter and hosted programs such as Ultimate Red Sox Show and Red Sox Report. In January 2012, she became part of Time Warner Cable SportsNet, reporting on LA Galaxy soccer games.

Heidi Watney achieved another career milestone in November 2012 when she joined MLB Network, where she currently holds the roles of host and reporter. Beyond her broadcasting career, she ventured into the entertainment realm, appearing in the music video for the Dropkick Murphys’ single “Going Out in Style.” Notably, Heidi has also been featured in the video games MLB The Show 19, MLB The Show 20, and MLB The Show 21, portraying the sideline reporter.
